Gastro Vogelsang in Schleiden

From the viewpoint it is a really great and impressive place, as is the entire Vogelsang area. Overall, however, I hoped for a little more from the on-site gastronomy - I was aware that it wasn't a restaurant, but I also didn't expect a large kitchen offering. The selection of food was not very large overall, which was probably due to the Corona restrictions. However, I would have expected more regional cuisine / home-style cooking than just currywurst and schnitzel with fries - there is potential here, especially for Eifel specialties. Overall, I found the prices a bit too high for the quality offered. EC card payment is accepted. The bottom line was that it was more like a motorway service station. Maybe the offer will improve after the corona restrictions, but for the moment the visit was only worth it because of the view.

This self-service restaurant is clean, has the monopoly on Vogelsang and lives from the great view from the terrace. The staff is experienced. Reminds of a smaller motorway restaurant. The very few dishes offered from the counter (during our visit on a Friday lunchtime in August) looked and tasted that way (rather sterile and had been stored in the counter for a long time, like hospital or AB restaurant food). The menu was extremely small during our visit (because of Corona, or always?) There was only 1 menu of the day (mushy schnitzel, the breading of which was already in dissolution) and 2 soups (peas or lentils, optionally with a whole sausage thrown in). The lentil soup had at least a visible lentil content in spite of the little taste, but the pea soup was mainly watery. (And there was probably still 0815 bratwurst with fries). We found the prices quite exaggerated. We found nothing of "regional cuisine" (as advertised in various Eifel brochures about the Vogelsang restaurant), a shame! The "Corona concept" seemed nonsensical to us here: You should log in and out using a mobile phone with a QR code, but we had no mobile phone reception and there was also no WiFi. What shoud that? Also: You should give your table number, but our table did not have a number. To press the button of the coffee machine you have to put on a glove, but when someone goes to the toilet, on his (long) way there he has to hold several locked doors with handles to open and push / pull open and there was there (in the toilets ) no disinfectants whatsoever during our visit.

Great view and nice staff. We enjoyed our culinary delights at the salad bar and with the vegetarian lasagna. We found the visit very pleasant.

Gastro Vogelsang, has amazing views with a mix in style of old and new, i found this restaurant while hiking in the Eifel national park. The seating is split into a couple of different area a full restaurant for dining, a more causal eating area inside and an outside seating area. The best views are of course in the dining area as to be expected but were able to walk though for a look at the view (see pictures) The food its self is reasonably basic i had the curry wurst and chips (see pictures) Gastro Vogelsang has a big turn over of people including tour buses so they like to keep the queue for food moving and everyone is very prompt in responses. Everyone i spoke to understood english. Overall good experience view is slightly better then the food.

The really positive is the view, the children's corner and the sanitary facilities. The food is as far as we experienced it all TK and finished products. No fresh vegetables, nothing for children, no children's plates. Even at the salad bar hardly anything fresh. Price performance did not please us. In addition an extremely long queue and staff which the own courts did not know!

Very good food at good prices. Who feels these prices too high has no idea how complex it is to run a restaurant of this size. Finally, the staff should receive a reasonable salary. We enjoyed it very much and we were very satisfied with the service. I even had to tell her not to overfill the plate.

Food and staff was ok, wonderful view only the price performance ratio does not fit. Therefore only 3 stars, because for two-course meals with drinks € 32 is already violent.

Breakfast is great. Everything ready at the place prepared and coffee, cocoa etc. inclusive. For the price (14,60 €) and the great view unbeatable !!

Reminiscent of a motorway service area. The apple strudel can be described in three terms: expensive, tasteless and cold. We felt the milk in the coffee was no longer the best ... The view gets 7 stars, the food / drink -5 stars. (the staff was nice, but could not save anything) Pity could have been so good

The breakfast buffet is made with love. For this purpose, but a table reservation should be made. Whatever is economically ok, the restaurateur planning no registration = no buffet. It is worth the pictures speak for themselves. Keep it up Team Kaspar;)

We celebrated our wedding in the restaurant of Vogelsang Castle. It was unique! Great view, great food and excellent service. Highly recommended!
